Welcome to the Birth Toolbox Weekly.

Engagement
No, I’m not talking about what often happens prior to marriage. 😉
In pregnancy, the word engagement describes when a baby’s head moves into the pelvis in position for birth. You’ve probably heard it called “baby dropping”.
It can be difficult to know if your baby has dropped or engaged in the pelvis, but there are a few signs that can make you suspect it has happened.
Signs that baby has engaged:
You can breathe a little easier
The space between your breast and your bump is wider
You have less acid reflux or heartburn
Back pain increases
Vaginal discharge increases
Need to urinate increases
Pelvic pressure increases
Hemhorroids appear

Did you know that babies often drop days before labor starts in first time births? In second, third and fourth births babies often drop at the start of labor (or close)!
And…the topic of whether your baby has dropped is one of the most common comments that you will get from strangers at a grocery store. (in my opinion😂)
